About

Windward Islands / Grenadines

The Windward Islands, also known as the Islands of Barlovento, are a set of islands where the Caribbean sea and Atlantic ocean meet. The Windward Island archipelago comprises of several islands, including Grenada, the Grenadines, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Dominica and Trinidad, and Tobago. They are called the Windward islands since their location is on the path of the Northeastern trade winds. With Windward Island yacht charters, you can experience what the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean have to offer.

These English-speaking islands are nothing short of spectacular, and each island has a little bit of something for everyone. The island of Dominica is not your regular Caribbean island and offers untamed rainforest that is waiting to be explored. Grenada has vibrant coastal towns and sandy beaches. It also has the world’s first underwater sculpture park. It is also known as spice island as it is a producer of nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. St. Lucia is famous for its waterfalls, beaches, hiking trails, and its towering twin Pitons. The grenadines are a unique sight to see. This long island chain is protected from the Atlantic waves, and each destination has a different feel to it. The islands have an eccentric mix of an old-world Caribbean vibe mixed with new age. Hop onto a Grenadines catamaran charter to truly discover what the islands and the waters have in store for you.

We can keep going, but I think you get the point. This particular chain of islands has culture, nature, beaches, food, and unforgettable landscapes that will make any vacation a memorable experience. Take off on your Grenadines yacht charter for your next trip, and make the experience a lifelong memory.

Best time to visit

Windward Islands / Grenadines

The Windward Islands have a tropical climate, making it an enticing destination all year round. The average temperature is 81F and stays consistent for the whole year. The summer months are hot and humid, while the winters are cool with minimal rainfall. The dry season starts in December and goes until May; the wet season runs from June to November.

Hurricane season starts in August and goes until October, with the most active season beginning in September. However, some of the southern Windward Islands, like Grenada, are outside of the hurricane belt. As the Grenadines, particularly St Vincent down to Grenada, are generally considered far enough south to be out of the way of hurricanes, many yachts relocate here during hurricane season. Therefore if you still wish to visit the region during this season, you can still plan a vacation to the area during August - October.

More Resources About

Windward Islands / Grenadines

The Windward Islands are unique as they are still relatively unexplored by tourism. This means that the beaches have largely still been left untouched and are waiting to be explored by those who are curious enough to embark on an adventure. Time moves slower, granting visitors the ability to soak in the turquoise blue waters, lie on the snow-white beaches and explore the crystal clear waters. The constant trade winds, well-protected anchorages, and the tropical climate make it the perfect location to charter a yacht.

If you want to learn more about the Windward Islands, we would recommend that you visit each of the official tourism websites for each island you’d like to visit for more information about what to do as well as up-to-date information about COVID-19 entry requirements.
