A 55.7-meter expedition superyacht with two global circumnavigations and an Ice Class IB rating to her name has completed a full 15-year technical refit and is now open for charter inquiries in Fiji. GALILEO, available through IYC at €280,000 per week, is among a very small number of vessels at this scale genuinely built — not just positioned — for extended South Pacific passage-making, and one of the few offering private access to Fiji in the summer 2026 charter window.

The Expedition Resume
Built by Picchiotti in 2011, GALILEO won the International Superyacht Society Award in her launch year and received finalist recognition at the World Superyacht Awards and ShowBoats Design Awards the same season. Since then, she has logged two full global circumnavigations — not as one-off passages, but as the operational pattern of a vessel whose Ice Class IB certification, 9,000-nautical-mile range, and now-completed 15-year technical survey make long offshore passages routine. The 2026 refit addressed engines, generators, air conditioning, and all critical systems — a genuine overhaul, not a cosmetic refresh ahead of a charter season.
She accommodates 12 guests across five cabins with a crew of 11.

Fiji: The Case for Remote
The thinness of Fiji’s charter market is precisely its appeal. Very few superyachts at 50 meters or above operate there, which means genuinely uncrowded anchorages, access to islands that haven’t been shaped by mass tourism, and itinerary routing that doesn’t overlap with anyone else’s. GALILEO’s offshore build and 9,000-mile range give her captain real flexibility — including anchorages that fall outside any standard charter program and require a vessel capable of operating in varying open-ocean conditions.
A Dive and Surf Program That Functions as Crew
GALILEO’s water-sports inventory is one of the more serious afloat at this price point: 12 sets of Aqualung diving equipment rated for night dives, onboard instructors for both diving and surfing, four hydrofoil setups, wakesurf gear, spear guns, two 2024-model Yamaha WaveRunners, and a Zodiac Hurricane jet tender rated to 35 knots. In Fiji, that tender speed matters — remote dive sites and surf breaks require a chase boat with real range and speed. An inflatable sea pool, floating dock, and onboard gym round out the offering.
The diving and surfing instruction is part of the crew, not arranged through local operators. Both programs are available from the first morning of the charter, without coordination or scheduling against external availability.

Two Planning Horizons on One Vessel
GALILEO’s summer 2026 season runs in Fiji. For winter 2026/27, the itinerary moves to French Polynesia — Tahiti, Bora Bora, the Tuamotus. Two distinct South Pacific booking windows on a vessel with the offshore credentials to do justice to both. Expedition-class vessels in this part of the world are scarce, and open weeks don’t stay that way once a season is announced. Clients with either destination in mind for 2026 or early 2027 are well-served by inquiring now.
At €280,000 per week, GALILEO sits at the lower end of pricing for a 55-meter expedition vessel with her build, track record, and refit status — a function of her remote operating base, not what’s onboard.
